Wiltshire 1851 Census CD


Welcome to the Wiltshire 1851 Census Home Page

DATA for WILTSHIRE 1851 CENSUS CD-ROM

1. A search engine is provided with the CD and is installed on the hard drive when the CD is first loaded into the CD-ROM drive.
2. The program is started in the same way as other Windows programs.
3. The search fields are: Given Name, Last Name, Birth Year, County of Birth, Place of Birth, Census Address, Occupation.
4.You can search on one or more of these.
5. Soundex option is provided on the names which is of great help when searching for variants.
6. It will also be possible to view the following:
Census as Enumerated, Census in Name Order, Enumeration Districts [descriptions as given by the enumerators] & Census Abbreviations.
7.The Census is also available on the disc in Microsoft Access Database (both Access 97 and Access 2000 formats) and Adobe Acrobat. The latter format can be used by Mac users.
8.Minimum system requirements: Windows 95, 98 or NT. A screen resolution of 800x600 pixels: IBM PC or equivalent with at least a 486 processor, 16Mb of Ram and 5Mb of free hard disc space.
